The event is held in Ottawa to give policy analysts, leadership and other key stakeholders a chance to interact substantively with the ideas of the day. While the day's events are normally by invitation, the research presented often provides for an aggressive agenda for the work of Cardus the following year.

Together with the Senior Fellows retreat, Appointment on the Hill provides significant stimulation and direction to the Cardus.
