Andreas Dalsgaard is a documentary filmmaker and director of The Human Scale, a film directly influenced by Jan Gehl (Cities for People) about how important it is to think of our cities in terms of places for people.
What I hadn't realized before I sort of threw myself into the topic was the impact that the physical environment of a city has on culture, on well-being, on how we get about, how we live together. This was a total eye-opener for me, and as a social anthropologist, of course, it was also completely in line with what I was interested in beforehand. So just seeing that connection made it evident for me that I had to make a film about this topic, to make people aware of what the physical environment—what architecture—can really do and how it affects our lives.
